I thought the citizens (and the ratepayers) of Mutare would like to have the following bit of information - if you didn’t know it already: I believe that Meikles Park, ( yes the whole block !!) which must comprise the most expensive and best commercial site in Mutare and of course owned by the citizens of Mutare, has been sold. The “Buyers” , who include some of our new friends from “The East” and some of our political masters, will acquire this property without actually having paid a cent for it! That’s right! No money will actually pass from the Buyers to the Municipality. The “payment” if you can call it that, will take the form of State Land from some other part of town and simply transferred by the Minister of Local Government to the Municipality! In other words, the government of Zimbabwe will be making a free donation of Meikles Park to a faceless bunch of people to enable them to construct commercial premises on it for their personal gain. I wonder who will actually benefit from this shady deal ? It will certainly not be the citizens of Mutare. Just thought you would like to know.

Having read the PDF file on the front page regarding "Traffic By-Laws", it appears that this is not applicable to Commuter and Sedan Taxis (Rosewise, Crown etc). They block the parking outside SPAR in Herbert Chitepo and have turned the cul-de-sac in front of Old Jaggers (H Street) into a Taxi rank, and ZRP and Municipal Police do NOTHING to prevent this. Seem the fine structure in the PDF document only applies to those who do not bribe the officials? Or will the Municipal Police do their jobs without fear nor favour nor corruption and ensure that Taxis ONLY park in Designated Taxi Ranks, after-all, the City of Mutare issues the Rank Discs, so one can only assume that this process entails restricting taxi's to certain ranks only????

In less than one week Zimbabwe will be celebrating it's Heroes past on. And many will throng the stadiums to celebrate and honour these fallen heroes. Let us also take time in this month to acknowledge living Heroes in our city of Mutare who are doing amazing work in our city. These unspoken heroes, work tirelessly most without remuneration to try and bring our city back to it's former glory. If you know anyone like this, feel free to mention them in the blog, or take time to send them an sms, call them, visit them or send a msg via someone to let them know their good work is noticed and appreciated and will not be in vain.
