VACANCY:  CHAMBER SECRETARY

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the vacant post of Chamber Secretary.

The Job

Reporting to the Town Clerk, this is a senior post in Council, which involves:

Organizing and supervising the provision of Secretarial services to all Council Committees and involves inter-alia:

  • Preparing and distributing minutes of the proceedings of Council and its committees.
  • Preparing and distributing agendas and notices of any Mayoral, Council or Committee meetings.
  • Following up the implementation of Council resolutions.
  • Efficient administration which includes provision of security services, maintenance of an efficient records system etc.
  • Acting as Town Clerk in the absence of same.

The Person

The ideal applicant should possess the following qualifications and attributes:

 

  • Degree in Social Sciences, Law or Humanities
  • 10 years post graduate working experience, 3 of which should be at senior level in a local government environment.
  • Analytical and communication skills are critical in this position.
  • Membership of at least one of the following professional bodies is a must:
     
  • IPMZ
  • ZIM
  • Law Society of Zimbabwe
  • CISA
  • Institute of Town Clerks of Southern Africa
  • Or similar management or professional institute of a reputable standing
