UPDATE ON CITY COUNCIL ROADS SECTION NOVEMBER / DECEMBER 2009

The department’s vehicle, Plant and equipment status is currently still inadequate to ensure proper service delivery in the city. At the moment the department  has the following equipment  1 Bull Dozer, 1  Loader trailer, 1 Grader, 1 Front End loaders, 1 Tractors, 1 Tip Up trucks, 1 Flat bed trucks, 3 Water Bowsers, 2 Pavers , 1 premix Plant, 1 Binder Distributors, 6 Rollers, 2 Compressor paint sprayers and 2 Tar hand sprayers

Regardless of the lack of adequate manpower and vehicles, the department covered much ground this month in the following areas:-

Gravel hauling

Gravel was loaded from pits to the following working areas:

S. Mazorodze Road; Dangamvura Area 14, Dangamvura Area 15, St. Joseph’s road, Aerodrome road, Park Road, Pasteur Drive, Hobhouse Commuter Route; Gomorembira Road; Glasgow Road; Kingfisher Street.

Gravel Pothole patching

Potholes in the following area were patched with gravel :

S. Mazorodze Road; Dangamvura Area 13, Dangamvura Area 14, Glasgow Road; Bvumba Road; Feruka Road; End Ave; C Avenue; New Castle Road; First  Street.

Tar Pothole patching

The following potholes were filled with tar:

C. Mazorodze Road; Dangamvura Commuter Route; Bvumba Road; Feruka road; Dangamvura Area 13.

Drain Cleaning

The removal of deposited material and reshaping storm water drains took place in the following areas:

Chikanga Phase 1 & 2; 3rd Street; Runde Cresent; Bvumba Road; J. Tongogara Road; S. Mazorodze Road; Dangamvura Area 12, 14, 10 & 3; Sakubva Nyausunzi; Old Chisamba & New Dangare; Riverside Drive; R. Mugabe Road; Park Road.

Drain Improvement

Laying building blocks was done on Riverside Drive

Interlocking Blocks laying

The above was done on R. Mugabe Avenue and Park Road junction.

Grass Scuffling

2000m was covered in the following areas

Riverside Drive; S. Mazorodze Road; Humpshire Road; 3^{rd Street’ Dangamvura A}rea 14; 1^{st Avenue’ 2nd} Street’ New Castle road; R. Mugabe Road; 3^{rd S}treet

The following vehicle and plant equipment are awaiting repair subject to finance being made available.
