Rates Charges
We have had an overwhelming influx of people requesting information on how rates are charged. We will try and give you the resident understanding on this matter. Please note that this is basic, for more information or for individual complaints, please contact the City Council Rates Hall 02 64412 ext 316-318.
We have had some discrepancies in areas such as the New Fairbridge Park extension, due to the fact that the area should be billed as Florida and not Fair bridge, depending on which side of the zone the units fall under. However we are dealing with each issue as it comes up. We also have queries from one or two residents in Murambi and Tiger Kloof, which is mostly due to which side of the Zone they fall under. As with Fair bridge Park, we are dealing with each situation as it arises.

Commercial and Industrial
The values in the current roll plus the unit multiplier could not give the desired rate value, so estimation on the values had to be done with the minimum being $ 150.Council is currently working on the value on the existing roll. The changes are aimed at lining up with all our existing by-laws with regards to how rates are being charged. Corner shops are also billed as commercial, but have been reviewed, to a more acceptable rate based on the fact that they are a small business.
Industrial service stands are also small, but have also been billed under commercial. However they too have been given rates that are affordable. So in essence, we have departed from the original Roll for 2001, which falls short of the new developments in the city.
City councils Challenges
We will in the near future have to re-look at the new roll, so that it is consistent with the current Master Plan project.
